How is Lip Lift Surgery Performed?

The procedure is mostly done by numbing the upper lip area with local anesthesia, and then the excess skin is removed so that the skin in this area reaches the required length after special measurements.

In order to increase the visibility of the pink part of the lip, the lip is turned out with special stitches. Then, using absorbable suture materials, the wound area is closed so that the scar remains on the root of the nose, and the area is closed in a sterile manner with a special skin-colored tape.

What Should Be Done Before Lip Lift Surgery?

If it will be done with general anesthesia before the surgery, you should not eat and drink liquid food for 6 hours. If the lip lift surgery will be performed with local anesthesia, you do not need to be hungry. Smoking should be reduced 1 week before the surgery and for 2 weeks after the surgery. If general anesthesia will be applied, do not drink alcohol 48 hours in advance. Aspirin and blood thinners should be discontinued 2 weeks before the Liplift operation.

The lip lift procedure can be performed in a clinic and because it is not a very painful procedure, it is mostly performed with local anesthesia instead of general anesthesia.

What Should Be Done After Lip Lift Surgery?

You should rest for 24 hours after the Lip Lift procedure. Avoid strenuous exercise and smoking for the following weeks. You should not lie face down in the first week after lip lift surgery and avoid brushing your teeth too hard.  Use a small toothbrush and brush carefully. Do not forget to use a daily moisturizing cream for the lips.

What is the Liplift Surgery Recovery Process?

 It is normal to develop edema and swelling, which lasts for 5-7 days in the part of your nose where there is a scar. We recommend applying a cold compress for the first 2 days after the surgery and using antibiotics for a few days. We cover your suture line thinly with a special bandage and after 2 days you can take a shower. We recommend using an antibiotic cream on the root of the nose daily after taking a shower. You should also avoid smoking and excessive chewing for two weeks. On the first day of recovery, it is recommended to sleep on two or three pillows to keep your head elevated. After a week, your stitches will dissolve on their own, you can cover your scar with make-up from 1 week. The swelling and redness of the scar will get better in the following weeks and will almost completely disappear in about three months.

Lip Lift Surgery Risks

As with all surgeries, lip lift surgery has some potential complications, these are;

Scar: In the liplift surgery, the scars are hidden to be hidden in the root of the nose, but there is a possibility that the scars will remain wider, since the scars will heal late in those with additional diseases such as diabetes. We recommend using scar creams such as contractubex, scarex, dermatix ultra gel against scar formation.

Infection: The probability of occurrence is low, but we recommend all our patients to use antibiotics for 5 days after the liplift operation. Allergic reactions due to anesthesia.

What are the Pros of Lip Lift Surgery?

Lip lift is not like temporarily injected fillers, it provides permanently fuller lips. Lip lift saves you the “duck lips” look that can sometimes occur with fillers. It can give your mouth a more symmetrical appearance, correct the shape of your lips, and reveal more of your teeth, creating a younger appearance.

It is a relatively easy plastic surgery procedure performed under local anesthesia.
