What is Teeth Whitening?

The process of cleaning the chromogens that cause internal and external stains on the teeth by using whitening gel is defined as “teeth whitening”. After the teeth whitening process, the tooth is provided with a brighter and more eye-catching color than its original color. Teeth whitening can be performed at home or in a clinical setting, as just mentioned. Teeth whitening applications performed in a clinical setting give faster results.

How Is Teeth Whitening Made?

During teeth whitening procedures performed in a clinical setting, a whitening gel containing hydrogen peroxide is applied on the teeth in order to penetrate the tooth enamel. A special blue light is used to activate the gel. Blue light causes the hydrogen peroxide in the gel to activate quickly. After the procedure, which takes an average of 30 minutes, a significant whitening is obtained in the teeth.

Teeth whitening should be performed by specialist dentists in the field. In order to protect the health of teeth, mouth and gums, the application should be done carefully. The contact of the whitening gel with the mucous membranes of the lips, mouth or cheeks should be avoided. Both the physician and the patient should wear protective glasses during the application of blue light, which accelerates the activation of the whitening gel.  We share the experience of our specialists with our patients in our teeth whitening procedures, as in all our applications. We continue to serve you with our services that provide safe and optimum results.

Is Teeth Whitening Safe?

As a result of clinical studies and researches on teeth whitening; The application has been shown to be safe if performed by dentists. However, teeth whitening is not recommended for children under the age of 13, pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Does Teeth Return to Its Old Form After Whitening?

During the teeth whitening application, external and internal stains on the teeth are removed. Therefore, the teeth will always remain whiter than before. However, in order to avoid external stains on the teeth, patients should not disrupt their oral care.
