Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy

Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy

It is a form of stereotaxic radiosurgery performed on the brain and non-spinal parts of the body by giving high doses to small areas with fewer treatment sessions under image guidance. In this way, very high radiation doses can be given to the diseased areas with maximum protection of the surrounding healthy tissues. The most suitable patients for this method are those with small and well-circumscribed tumors who are generally unsuitable for or do not want surgery.

SBRT is often used in the treatment of small tumors located in the lung, liver, adrenal gland, pancreas, prostate and bone, and it can also be used in recurrent patients who have received radiotherapy before.
